Southern Search & Rescue, Inc. and its divisions are always accepting applications for membership into our programs. By signing up today to be a member, you will be helping to insure that we can continue to make a difference. We are proud to offer many different programs that you can volunteer for. Using the menu on the left, you can select the program that you are most interested in.
We require all new members, expect those for virtual programs¹, to download, fill-in, print, sign and mail an application into the office.
Applications should be completely filled in, then printed from your computer. This will allow to just sign them and mail them in. To learn more about our PDF forms, go here

Eligibility (Adult Member)
Minimum of 18 years of age;
No disqualifying offenses, see link;
If a veteran, must have had a general or higher discharge (DD-214/NGB-22 will be checked);
US Citizen or legal resident (for US based teams only)
Eligibility (Youth Member) - Not all Teams or Units have youth programs
14-18 years of age (9th grade or higher)
Satisfactory grades in school (only if in high school)
Parents consent - must have consent form on file
Physical Requirements
Physical disabilities are not a limiting factor to membership. To assure the fullest degree of success and operational preparedness of Southern Search & Rescue, Inc., the member should be healthy, both physically and mentally and not present a danger to themselves or others. Specific emergency services field specialties have physical fitness requirements. There are roles for people who cannot or do not wish to participate in field level work.
Steps To Joining A Team Or Unit
Determine if there is an existing team or unit in your area.
Contact the team or units leader and/or attending a regular team meeting, if you can. Please confirm meet time and date.
Complete the membership application form.

¹ Virtual programs have an online form which can be submitted to get you started, but they are still required to mail a standard application within 3 months of signing up. This is subject to change.
* We are no longer accepting applications online, all applications have to be completed and signed then mailed to us along with the full membership dues. You may pay your dues either by check or credit card. No application will be processed until payment has been received.
