Since the early 1990's (1991 to be exact) PDF files have become a main stream item in most business and organizations around the world. PDF or Portable Document Format, is a computer file that can be shared among various computer systems around the world, as long as they can read a PDF type file and thanks to the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, this is not a problem.

A PDF file is an almost exact copy of it's paper form, but it has been transformed into a digital product that is usable by all. This was the first form of digital document to be developed to try and move towards a "paperless" office.

Southern Search & Rescue, Inc. uses PDF files for a lot of our work. All paper applications are converted into PDF files and stored on CD. This provides us with a backup copy of everyones records. If you receive a certificate or award, they too may be converted to PDF and stored along with your records, in case the origianls are lost or damages.

All applications and forms that we use are located on this website or others in PDF formats. These files are special in that they contain interactive fields that allows the form to be completed and then printed with all the information on them. This allows for faster data input and then printing of the official information to be placed into our files or others. Some forms may be able to have the information saved within the form, but those are located on corporate computers and not saveable in the field.

All PDF files generate by Southern Search & Rescue, Inc. or one of its divisions are greated using Adobe Acrobat 7.0 and are designed to be opened by Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 or newer. There is a history of issues using anything older than version 6.0, so we will not save our files to open with anything else. If you are using Acrobat Reader 5.0 or older, you will have to upgrade to open these files.

All forms created by us with have interactive fields in them. Most will place your cursor in the first line of the form, but if it does not, just find the first field and click on it.
