Southern Search & Rescue, Inc. and its divisions take privacy matters very seriously. The privacy of our volunteers, supporters and those that we work with, is a number one priority for us and we will not waver from our standards. In some cases, we might be regulated by various state and federal laws and we will make all efforts to remain in compliance with these regulations. We have created this privacy policy in an effort to provide those visiting our site with information on what may or may not be collected here and how it is used. Before you read any further, please read this one statement, under no circumstances will Southern Search & Rescue, Inc. or any of its divisions, provide your information outside of our organization, expect as detailed below, nor will we rent, sell, lease, give away, provide, grant access to, auction, or any other form of providing information about anyone to any outside source, expect as detailed below.
Privacy Policy
Website/Business Affected: This policy affects http://www.southernrescue.org and Southern Search & Rescue, Inc. as a whole. Information Automatically Logged: IP Address are automatically logged by the server that this site is hosted on. Generally IP Address logged are only used to diagnose and administer this website and server. In cases of fraud or theft (ie. use of a stolen credit card) IP Address will be provided to the law enforcement agency handling the case. A legal subpoena is required before this information will be released. IP address logged by this server and all servers on the net are used to help provde a broad demographic of visitors those servers. This site and server also logs general statistics about visitors, such as the type of browser used to access the site and operating systems are also recorded in the form of how many PC's visit this site, how many Macs and so on. This information is not identifiable and can not be used to trace a user of our site. Cookies: This website does used cookies to provide a better experience to our visitors. Cookies used by southernrescue.org are PHP Session cookies, which means that they are only valid for the time that you are visiting our website and once your session is over the cookies are no longer usable. If you register to gain access to the members pages on this site, you have the option to allow the site to place a semi-permanent cookie on your computer to allow the site to remember you each time you visit. Cookies issued by southernrescue.org do not contain inforamtion that can identify you, expect to the server and are not usable by any other server or individual. Some third party banners and links on this site may or may not place a cookie on your computer. While we try to insure that these cookies are not harmful and we try to limit them if we can, we are not able to control, nor are resposible for how those cookies are used. We have mainly four types of advertisers on our site. We spent time checking out these advertisers and feel that they will be of the best for our sites and respect the visitors that visit our sites. It is the goal of Southern Search & Rescue, Inc. to maintain online advertisers that respect our visitors and stand up to the standards that we have established. Top of Page Web-Forms: Our website does contain forms on it for submission of information. Usually these forms request various types of information to allow us to better serve our visitors. This information may include, but not limited to the following:

Email Address Collected - It is our policy to not release any email address information to anyone outside of our organization. Your email address is protect and shall never be used for any purpose that is not intended upon for by our organization when related to activites of the organization. General Forms - Most forms on our site are basic contact us forms that allow our visitors to send us general information, request for information and other related purposes. The information collected by these forms is generally basic in nature and is use only for the purpose intended by the communication. Volunteer Forms - Some forms on our site are for use in submitting volunteer application information. All fields on these forms are required and most be completed before the form can be submitted. The information collected will be used to complete the volunteers registration request and to administor the volunteers membership. All information collected from volunteers is confidential in nature and is only avaliable to the staff of Southern Search & Rescue, Inc. and divisions for use in the course of operation. This information will not be released to any outside party, expect as allowed in the last section of this policy. Donation Forms - The last type of form used on this site is donation forms. These forms are used for the collection of the needed information to process donations to the organization or its divisions. Donations that are to be processed by our staff will be handled by encrypted forms on our secure server and sent to us. These forms may collect the following information, in addition to normal information:
- Credit Card Information
- Bank Information
- Location to send donation receipt to

All donation information sent directly to use is collected and maintained off of the internet. Donors information will not be maintained on any internet accsesible websites or computers. We maintain strict standards to protect your information. The information that is collected will be used to complete the donation transaction, whether its processing the credit card through one of our processors or submitting your bank information to our bank for receipt of funds. We also utilize the following services to collect and accept donations. These services have their own standards and policies, so be sure to visit their sites for more information.
When using forms on this site, all forms include the senders IP information at the time of submission, this information is only used when an attempted fraud action has taken place, such as someone using a stolen credit card to make a donation or similar actions. This information, along with other information will be provided to the proper authorities in an attempt to catch and prevent such actions and those that commit them. Top of Page External Links: As a service to those that visit us, our members and more, when we come across a website that we feel would be of interest to others, we will include such a site in our links section. We do also accept request to include links on our site, after they have been submitted and confirmed to meet our links policy. Top of Page Special Relationships: Any information provided to Special Relationships which Southern Search & Rescue utilizes is accessible by administrative staff of Southern Search & Rescue. These staff members decide which information to request from each user utilizing a special relationship on our web sites. Public Forums: At this time, we do not provide or maintain any public forum. We do have a Yahoo Group which can be used to make post and receive emails as a group in-large. We feel that having a forum on our website at this time would not benefit the organization, but this may change in the future. If we do decide to have a forum or chat room on this site, anyone post information on it must be aware that any such post is public information and available all visitors. This is true for most forums or chat rooms on the internet. You should excerise caution when post on a forum or other similar site and be sure not to post sensitive information or any information that you do not want made public. Any attempted security breach is logged, will be provided to the police, FBI and InterPOL if needed, in an effort to track down and prosecute any offenders. Childrens Privacy: We care about children and understand that they have special privacy needs. Therefore, we have adopted the following privacy policy regarding children. This policy only affects the general collection of information for children visiting our site while surfing the web. We have a more specific COPPA Policy that talks about information collect from children in regards to requesting information about membership into our charity and regarding information that is released in conjunction with trying to locate a missing child. We will NOT provide any direct links to web sites that are unsuitable for children. We cannot prevent sites that we link to from linking to such sites, but we make every attempt to only link with good trust worthy sites.

Top of Page Choice/Opt-Out/Opt-In: We provide a newsletter on our website. This eZine, as we call it, is CAN-SPAM compliant. When you signup to receive the eZine, you first provide your information, then are sent an email that you are required to click a link in to confirm you requested the eZine. This is called a double opt-in, since you make the request and then confirm that request. If at any time you no longer wish to receive the eZine, there is a link included in them that allows you to remove yourself from the list. It can take upto 7 days to stop receiving any email from the eZine, but it usually takes less time. All visitors that request information from us using our online forms are agreeing to receive emails back from us in response to the request sent. Those emailing us will also be included in our donation mailing system that is used to send emails several times a year to ask for support. Visitors that provide their email address to us may opt-out of the general email contacts if they wish, but may not opt out of the donation request mailings. These mailings are generally sent two or three times a year and are not opt-out-able. . Release of Information: The only time that Southern Search & Rescue, Inc. will divulge any information to a third party, other than listed prior in this policy, will be during the following two cases:
- We will provide any and all information to any law enforcement agency, provided that they have valid proof of an investigation of a crime and that this information is/might be related. Proof can be provided in the form of a Search Warrant, Court Order, Subpoena, or other court recognized legal form.
- We will provide information to the United States Internal Revenue Service. The information provided to the IRS will only be what is needed to complete and file our necessary forms each year, as required by law.
